We are celebrating 20 years of partnership.

Hardox® wearparts partner

Winkelbauer has been a Hardox® wearparts partner from the very beginning. In 2002, the Swedish steel group SSAB founded the Hardox®wearparts network and thus created the best point of contact for wear products and wear service. Even back then, the global market leader in highly wear-resistant steels was impressed by Winkelbauer's vertical integration when it came to machining and processing special structural steels. No wonder, as Winkelbauer already had years of experience with wear plates and parts. The family business has perfected its ability to ensure high productivity and low maintenance costs, as well as its expertise in selecting the right wear parts and services, and is one of the leading network partners and processors of highly wear-resistant steels in Europe.

We were thanked for the partnership at the Hardox® wearparts meeting at the end of November 2023.

Stephan Winkelbauer accepted the award on our behalf together with Martin Narnhofer, Head of Component Production.

Hardox® wearparts and more: Winkelbauer’s expertise lies in processing the entire range of materials, from Hardox to Armox

In addition to standard grades such as Hardox 450 and Hardox 500, the Styrian company was one of the first to convert to Hardox 500 Tuf and therefore processesthe entire Hardox product range. Whether wear-resistant steel up to Hardox 600 or Hardox HiAce, the composite material Duroxite, the structural steel Strenx or the safety steel Armox: together with customers, Winkelbauer has acquired extensive expertise in the requirements of highly wear-resistant steels in various areas of application over the past decades. These include high-quality products such as construction machinery equipment, components for recycling plants as well as high-strength components for vehicle construction and forestry technology. In the protection sector for the protection of critical infrastructure such as transformers or buildings through to vehicles, the highest Armox grades are also used, as well as the certified Armox armoured steel. Currently, over 6,000 tonnes of steel are processed annually, including almost 4,000 tonnes of highly wear-resistant steel at the site in Anger near Weiz.

High-End Maschinenpark

Today, the family company’s machinery is more modern and digital than ever. Over the last 36 months, more than 12 million euros have been invested, resulting in a reliable in-house process chain and state-of-the-art machinery with all the necessary technological steps from cutting, edging, welding and machining through to the finished painted part, adapted to the requirements of the market.

Highly wear-resistant steels up to 150 mm in various degrees of hardness up to 600 Brinell are stored and processed.
